The collaboration between Cliff Designs Media Systems and New West Custom Homes has finally become a reality. Earlier this month New West Custom Homes unveiled their gorgeous showhome in the prestigious community of Watermark in Bearspaw. We have worked with New West over the year to not only outfit the new home with technology to support the sales staff, but also to showcase some of the technology available for residential clients.
The highlight of this project and probably one of the coolest aspects about this house is the hidden theater. That’s right, Ron, the owner of New West conceived a plan to make the home theater a secret room. When in the basement, one would never know there is a room behind the fireplace pictured. A small nudge in the right spot on the left wall reveals a secret door to cinema bliss.
Once inside, the 1st thing people will notice is the massive 120″ projection screen. They will also notice they don’t see the front left, center, and right speakers. That’s because we used what’s called an acoustically transparent screen in this installation. This allowed us to install speakers behind the screen, giving the front of the theater a very clean look while maintaining acoustical clarity and performance. The surround system is a 7.1 system made up of Episode’s 500 Series in-wall and in-ceiling theater specific speakers, along with their new 10″ Evolution subwoofer. This subwoofer is gorgeous with it’s piano black finish, and don’t let the size fool you the sound it outputs will amaze. For the projection system we went with a Dragonfly acoustically transparent screen which unlike other acoustic screens have a weaved material vs a perforated vinyl. This material is a value leader, providing a very good picture and great color uniformity at an affordable price. The light source is courtesy of an Epson 4030 Pro Cinema projector, a perfect match for the screen and environment. Last but certainly not least, a Denon In-Command receiver provides the juice to all the speakers and video switching.
Stay tuned for Part 2 of this featured project where we fill you on the rest of the home and some of the automation provided to assist the sales staff. In the meantime, I encourage everyone to come down to Watermark and visit this showhome.
